The Lord Is My Shepherd

“Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Reflection
22nd March 2024 More disturbing news today. I read in the papers that the CLG independent directors and their former CEO had been arrested, apparently for a non-disclosure offence. CLG was a company which I was chairman of until I stepped down in 2020, and I knew the IDs and the former CEO well. They had been very supportive when I was going through my trials in the past 3 years and the former CEO, in particular, had been encouraging me with God’s Word. I interpret these events as signs of the end times. The devil is afoot and will start to tear the church apart. I sense that Satan will pit Christian brother against brother and will gloat as they speak ill of each other. He knows that we, as human beings, care about our face and will, out of pride, do what it takes to protect our reputations at the expense of others. We must pray incessantly for God to protect us with His armour, so that the devil’s fiery darts will not harm us. It was my turn to encourage my brothers and sister. JH (to CH), in a Whatsapp message: Psalm 33:20-22 Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name. 22 Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, Just as we hope in You. You know I’ve been there, gone through it. Keep a prayer journal so that you may be encouraged when you see God’s hand at work. CH, in reply: I felt Psalm 23 in the cell. I wonder if we can start a prayer group with TC and myself JH: Thanks for sharing! Yes, Let's do that! And that was the conception of our Psalm 23 Cell Group, a fellowship of brothers going through trials together.
Application
Isn’t it amazing how God works? My experience can now be used to encourage others caught in similar predicaments. I can inspire them and help them grow closer to our Lord Jesus, even as God had used them to support me when I was weak and fearful.
Thank You, Lord, for Your providence. I want to trust You even when things are uncertain. I want to lean on You when I am weak. I want to rest in Your shadow, so that my strength may be renewed. Please hear my prayers, O Lord. I need You every hour.
