To Live is Christ and To Die is Gain

May 15, 2026

Scripture

Philippians 1:6, 12, 19-21 6 (I am) confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in (me) will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 12 I want you to know that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Reflection

28th January 2024 God is sovereign and He is Lord of my life. He is holy forever. His will overrides my plans and I desire my heart to be in union with His Spirit. I trust in God’s providence for my family and me. I shall neither fear the arrows that fly overhead nor the soldiers encamped around me, for He will not test us beyond what we can bear, but will always provide a way out. Even so, I know that the Holy Spirit in me is love, wisdom and power. May my story be an encouragement for my parents, my children and my brothers and sisters-in-Christ. The heart of my trials is the gospel message that Jesus saves. He, who has created the heavens and the earth, has also written our stories before we were born. They are stories of people victorious in faith and because of it, they are counted as righteous before God.

Application

Saints, Brothers and Sisters-in-Christ: Don't waste your trials! Share your stories and let them comfort and encourage others, as You will also be invariably lifted by the prayers and support of faithful members of God's family. In giving thanks to God as we take each step of faith, we will find ourselves strengthened by God's mighty hand and our hearts filled with the peace of Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for giving me the courage to share my trials. To You be the glory forever and ever. Amen
