What Do You See?

May 5, 2026

Scripture

Jeremiah 1:4-5: Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:9-11: Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?”

Reflection

14th Oct 2023 LW (wife) shared the above two Scripture passages with me today. It was a reminder that our life stories have been written in heaven, even before our birth. God has set us apart to serve Him and He will put His words in our mouth to share the gospel and Christ’s dominion over all nations and kingdoms. LW wanted me to be sensitive to God’s presence all around me. He speaks to us through people and nature, yes, through all His creations. LW had shared these verses in Jeremiah in response to my sharing during CG (care group) the previous night, when I said I realised how much my boss, Dr Ameen, cared for me when he appointed me as a consultant to QH, even though the company’s shareholders had wanted me to step down completely. How easy it is to miss God’s hand in the things that happen around us and to us. We often notice the hurt when our lives get messed up, but fail to see that in the hurt, there is also joy, when God comforts us in His embrace in the middle of the storm.

Application

I must make it a habit to pause each day and take stock of what God is doing in my life and around me. In my busyness, it is so easy to focus only on myself, forgetting that the Lord is right beside me. I am God's witness. He has a purpose for me and a perfect timing for me to obey and walk in step with Him.

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, take me by my hand and walk with me. Thank You for the privilege of being Your servant and witness to the nations. Let me see where You are at work and let me join You there. Bless me with the necessary spiritual gifts to serve and glorify You, doing everything in love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
