Being Spirit-Led
May 5, 2026
“1 Corinthians 2:12-13 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
Reflection
27th September 2023, Wednesday Today’s sharing is of my Whatsapp conversation with my College Council mate, Cleo, who lives in Australia. She was diagnosed with liver cancer half a year ago and has been through numerous treatments, including a surgical operation that brought her to the brink of death and back. Yet, she found the time and strength to encourage me. [Cleo: Dear Jin Hian, I am holding you and your family close to my heart and my prayers at this very trying time of your life. Don’t lose heart and don’t give up, ok? Let me know if there is any way I can help, even in a tiny manner. Love you, my dear friend. Cleo 💝 Jin Hian: Good morning, Cleo. What I'm going through is nothing compared to you. Thank you for your prayers. Are you feeling better? Cleo: Still up and down. Will find out in November if the radioactive treatment is at all effective at retarding the cancer growth. Do u need some money, Jin Hian? If so, let me know, between Gareth and me, we shall see what we can do to help out. Jin Hian: Wow, Cleo. You're thinking of me whilst you're fighting your battles. I'm really grateful. I'm fine, though. God has always provided and He has always been good. I wait to see what He'll do this time!] Cleo is the first person to actually sense that I may need financial help. I am touched by her offer to help financially, because she must have exhausted her own funds paying for her medical treatment – surgery, ICU stay, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy! Here again, I am reminded of how the Holy Spirit works in our hearts to show divine love to members of His body, when they are in need.
Application
In my interaction with others, am I sensitive to the Holy Spirit's prompting? Am I still and quiet enough to listen to the Spirit and let Him show me how to encourage or help another person? Am I led by the Spirit in a way that glorifies God and draws people to Him?
Dear God, thank you for showing me Your love through Cleo. I ask that I may also be your instrument of love and compassion wherever You send me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
