Set Your Mind On Things Above

“Colossians 3:1-4 1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
Reflection
7th October 2023 This was God’s reminder for me today. Why do I dwell on things on earth, where dust and moth shall eat away? My trials are temporary, but my hope is eternal and of far greater glory, because I am going where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Can I let go of my earthly desires and possessions and follow Christ? What are the things I value (e.g. family, career, financial stability) and are they truly valuable or only a mist which appears for a short time, then disappears? Do I believe that Jesus Christ is all whom I need, now and forever?
Application
To fully experience the love of God, I must first let go of my earthly desires – my dreams, earthly possessions and even misguided pursuit of spiritual gifts, instead of spiritual growth.
Dear Lord Jesus, please help me release the things which I have been hanging onto and which are preventing me from growing close to You. As I seek You, may Your peace overcome my worries and fears, allowing me to find my perfect rest in You. Amen.
