In Your Presence Is Fullness of Joy

“Psalm 4:7-8 7 You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. 8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Reflection
1st July 2026, Wednesday I am thankful that my polycythemia is under control with medication, by God's grace and mercy. I am now spared the 'inconvenience' of fortnightly venesections, which I thought would be the staple of my life from now onwards. I am also counting down the days to the re-start of my trial on 28th July. The trial will run for 26 days, till 3rd September. God alone knows the outcome, but He wants me to know that my joy is not in the circumstances, but in the promise that I shall be in His presence in His perfected kingdom, together with Jesus and the Holy Spirit!
Application
Let my heart meditate on Habakkuk 3:17-18: 17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. When we fully embrace God's big plan for us, to restore us to His side in His new heaven and new earth, under His rule and blessing, we shall no longer be consumed by our light and momentary troubles on earth. If we seek Him, we shall find Him; and in His presence is true, complete and abundant joy!
Thank You, Lord, for reminding me that in Your presence is fullness of joy and at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Therefore, I do not get upset over the earthly missed opportunities due to what others have done to me. You have put gladness in my heart – abundant eternal joy that is more than the temporary joy of earthly prosperity. Thank You, Lord, for giving me Your peace, that I may sleep soundly, knowing that I am safe in Your loving arms. I pray this in the everlasting name of Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
