We Are the Fragrance of Christ

June 3, 2026

Scripture

2 Corinthians 2:15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

Reflection

26th March 2025 I am led by the Holy Spirit today to change my focus from myself and my situation to my family. I thank God for all that He has done for my family – LW and our daughters, JYX, JYM and JYL. I am grateful that they have the grace and favour of the Lord upon them and they have been shielded from the noise and attention created by the news in the past five years. LW has continued in her ministry as a prayer warrior for mothers and daughters in need. JYX has learnt to trust in the Lord for her medical studies and is now about to sit for her final exams in April. JYM has been blessed with an opportunity to expand her work experience in London and I know the Lord will use her to touch her friends and colleagues at work. Finally, JYL, already blessed with an overseas scholarship, has been surrounded with great friends who cook for her and with whom she can study. She is the only Christian amongst her friends and I know that has not happened by accident. God will use her mightily to share her faith with them in the years to come.

Application

It is tempting to play the 'sick role' when I am struggling, expecting others to rally around me. But God wants me to give thanks in all things and for all things. In so doing, I have come to realise how much He loves me and how much I have been blessed. My family is in the miry clay with me, yet the same God has also blessed them in more ways than we can imagine. How can we keep from singing His praises?

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for blessing me with my family. My parents love me and I know that You love them. I pray that You will receive them into Your kingdom – I ask the Holy Spirit to move their hearts, so that Your presence will be revealed to them. Remove any doubt in their hearts that You are their God and there is none other. Move me to share my faith and trust in You, that my parents may see the reason for the hope that I have. A hope that is unshakeable because Your promises are true and You are my deliverer and Saviour. I pray, O Lord, for You to watch over LW tonight as she begins her first work day at AM. She has a passion for her job, but she will be in a new environment. Protect her and may the people there see the glow around her, one that shines forth with Your love. May she move them into conversations about You, even as they eat and drink. I pray that our children will see the peace that we, as parents, have in You. May they learn to draw on the same source of peace – the Holy Spirit who gives us wisdom to understand Your will and, therefore, not be anxious about anything, but in everything, give thanks to You. You are Wonderful, Counsellor, Prince of Peace, Almighty God and Everlasting Father. We want to dwell in Your house forever. In Jesus’ name I praise You and lift my prayers to You. Amen.
