He Who Overcomes Shall Inherit All Things

“1 John 5:4-5 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? Revelation 21:6-7 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.””
Reflection
7th July 2026, Tuesday In my struggles, I am reminded that I shall inherit all things, even the kingdom of God, as a co-heir with Jesus Christ, if I overcome. But what am I called to overcome? Not sin or my struggles per se, because Jesus – the Lamb Who Was Slain - had paid the price in full on the cross and taken away the sins of the world. I am called to overcome the world or the love of the world. Every time I desire what this world can offer more than I desire Jesus, is evidence that I am still struggling to let go of the world. I thank God for His gift of faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been blessed with the faith to be transformed by the renewing of my mind, to fix my eyes on Jesus instead of the world. Jesus is the fountain of the water of life and He has been freely given to me. Love Jesus, love the life that He gives! 1 John 2:15-17 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Application
May God's Word lead me to: Trust in Christ's victory (John 16:33), Love God more than the world (1 John 2:15–17), Renew my mind (Romans 12:2), Walk by faith (1 John 5:4–5), Deny my self and follow Jesus daily (Luke 9:23), Fix my eyes on Christ rather than earthly treasures (Matthew 6:19–21; Hebrews 12:1–2).
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me Your Son, my Lord Jesus Christ, to die for my sins, that I may be presented holy and acceptable to You. Yet, I am tempted daily by the world and its creature comforts. I am constantly told by the world that I can be secure if I pursue the right goals and projects; and building the right networks and resources. Instil in me a pure heart, one which is surrendered entirely to You. Help me enjoy Your presence more than the temporary delights of the world. Remove my fear of missing out and the disappointment of missed worldly opportunities. Dear Jesus, You are all I need. Even as I face my trials and tribulations, let me be of good cheer, for You have overcome the world and my victory is in You. In Your name I pray, Amen.
