If The Lord Wills

“James 4:13-15: 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” ”
Reflection
28th October 2023, Saturday I had dinner with LW (wife) tonight and she reminded me of James 4:13-15. Amen! It is the Lord’s will whether I live or die, whether I succeed or fail. He creates the seasons in our lives with purpose, which is always to draw us closer to Him, that we may know him intimately and are able to rule His kingdoms as co-heirs with Him. There is nothing in my life that has not happened outside of the Lord’s sovereign will and so it shall be in the future. Let me not boast of anything other than the Lord’s love for me. My time on earth is but like a vapour, a mist that shall dissipate but I shall live on in eternity.
Application
Do not worry about today....or tomorrow! Seek to know Christ and His will. He is The One I shall be spending eternity with. Am I then pleasing Him with my thoughts, my words and deeds?
Dear Lord, forgive me each time I run ahead of You. I want to be still, so that I may clearly hear Your voice. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me in whom I should meet, what I should do and where I should go each and every day that I still have breath. I praise You for Your holy and perfect will. Amen.
