Why I Journal

May 12, 2026

Scripture

2 Timothy 3:14-17 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Reflection

19th December 2023 Why am I writing this journal? First and foremost, it is a means of baring my soul to God and a means to allow His Spirit to fill my thoughts and move my hand as I write (or type). I am attempting to write without ‘over-processing’ my thoughts, which will then mean that I am taking control, as opposed to allowing the Spirit full reign of my heart and mind in holy communion. I wish this journal to be inspired by God and profitable for instruction in righteousness, which I define as living for the glory of God. The second reason is to share this with my children, whom I want to continue in these things that they have learned from childhood – the assurance of God’s promises and His wisdom for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. There will always be false prophets, promising a life of comfort and easy living, but God’s heart is for us to know Him intimately. This intimacy will entail trials and tribulations, as He refines us like silver and prepares us for an eternal life of service to Him. We are called to rule the heavenly kingdoms and all creation as co-heirs with Christ. Our earthly trials are temporary and shall pass.

Application

Keep a prayer journal to record God's promises and to remind yourself of answered prayers! It will, one day, be irrefutable proof of His love for you.

Prayer

Thank You, Lord, for teaching me patience and joy in the face of adversity. Give me Your revelation and wisdom to understand and accept Your plans for me. Let me, likewise, be Your servant as I teach others through this journal. May my thoughts be Your thoughts. In Your name I humbly ask this, Amen.
