He Who is In Us is Greater Than He Who is In the World

“1 John 4:2–4 (NKJV): By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. John 17:14-17: 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
Reflection
13th November 2023 I received a message from a sister-in-Christ today, sharing that she had been feeling depressed and helpless for the past six months, She described being alone in fighting a battle with spirits, whom she could see. She had been praying and reading the bible, but did not feel better and was beginning to doubt her relationship with God. She had stopped going to church and had refused help from them because, "They don’t understand; they make me feel slow, incapable and, worst of all, stupid." However, her Christian friends did not give up and continued praying for her. She agreed to meet them and as they laid hands on her and prayed over her, she fell to the ground and saw a vision. She said, "(An) Indian Buddha in human form appeared and I took a sword to cut him into half. After that I felt the greatest peace and I slept so so well. GOD is good, HE never gives up on me."
Application
Spiritual warfare is real. There is a spiritual battle going on for our hearts and minds every moment of every day. It is important to put on the armour of God (Ephesians 6:11-17) to defend ourselves against the fiery darts of the enemy. Do not give up on reading and declaring His Word or going to Him in prayer. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when our words fail us. How do we know that we are 'not lost', that we have the Holy Spirit deposited in us, who will help us overcome? We know we belong to Christ and have His Spirit when we call out, "Abba Father!" and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. What comfort to know that our Lord is greater than he who is in the world.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your armour, which prepares me for the spiritual battles in my life. I may be in this world, but I am not of this world. Transform me by the renewing of my mind in Christ Jesus and sanctify me by Your Word, which is truth. Thank You for never letting me go. Your mercies are new every morning and great is Your faithfulness! In Jesus' precious and holy name I pray, Amen.
