Put On the New Man, Which Was Created According to God
October 4, 2026
“Ephesians 4:22-24 …put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
Reflection
4th October 2026 I was on trial this past week, taking the stand to present my Evidence-in-Chief, as the Defendant. It was tiring, but there is now a 4 month break until it resumes in February next year. Considering this episode started in September 2020, it has been like spending 40 years in the desert. However, not as Moses, but as Joshua! This is because I know I shall enter His promised land, where I shall experience His deliverance and victory. I have made many mistakes in my life, when I failed to walk closely with the Lord. Yet, He is faithful and He has neither let go of me nor given up on me. For this, I am grateful to my Creator. How often have I been tempted to cling to the world and all that it has to offer? How often have I been tempted to conform to the world instead of allowing my mind to be governed by the Spirit and allowing Him to transform me in Christ-likeness? Surely, His promised land is better than the Egypt of my past.
Application
I must put off the old man and put on the new man, created according to God’s design, reflecting His righteousness and holiness. I can overcome the world through Christ, who strengthens me. My identity is in Him and I am secure in His love. So, this past week, even as my case was reported in the media and it attracted its fair share of negative comments, I was protected by God's armour. My mind, my heart and my soul remained secure in the knowledge that I was still God's child. And God did send His angels and saints - fellow brothers and sisters-in-Christ, who turned up in court just to be there. Oh, what joy to be in His family!
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for creating me in Your image. Forgive me for the times when I left Your side and tried to be my own man. I am not of this world, even though I live in it. So, please shape me according to Your will and purpose for me. Make me an instrument of Your love even as I thank You for the love of my brothers and sisters-in-Christ. I have been redeemed by Christ and I now walk in His identity. Do not let me be affected by the lies of the devil, who tells me I am not good enough for You. No, as I fix my eyes on you, my Saviour, all I see is love. And as I look even deeper into Your eyes, I see myself in You – cleansed by Your blood, made holy and righteous. Come, Lord Jesus, come. I am waiting. Yet, as I live, I claim Your promises of deliverance and I remain confident of this: I shall see Your goodness in the land of the living. In Your precious name I pray, Lord Jesus. Amen.
