Our Lord Defends Us

“Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the Lord. Psalm 5:11-12 11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. 12 For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favour You will surround him as with a shield.”
Reflection
29th September 2023, Friday We held our first small group meeting at home since I was charged in court. The brothers and sisters said they had been waiting for me to arrange the meeting. I guess nobody really dared to approach me as they were concerned about my state of mind. Indeed, Joanne shared the story of her Taiwanese dad, who had gone through similar persecution when she was a child. She had seen how the seven years of waiting for his trial to end had taken a toll on her father and he had become frail as a result. He had not known Christ. I thank God that I am chosen and called by Him. The Lord, who is my Shepherd, will lead me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. He anoints my head with oil and my cup overflows. Why should I be afraid?
Application
Do I trust in the Lord? If I do, then let me shout for joy, because He cares for me and through His blood. I have been cleansed and made righteous. Regardless of the outcome of my trials, I fix my eyes on my Lord Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of my faith.
Thank you, Lord, for saving me. Your suffering was infinitely worse than what I am going through, yet you were obedient unto death - death upon a cross. Please give me Your divine strength to endure my trials and glorify You. Do not forsake me, O Lord. Do not give me up to my enemies or the Evil One. I do not want to be tempted beyond what I can bear. I ask that You will bless me with Your righteousness and surround me with Your favour. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
