We Believe and Therefore Speak

May 31, 2026

Scripture

2 Corinthians 4:13 (NIV) 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak. 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NIV) 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. 22 He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV) 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Reflection

12th January 2025 My Lord Jesus has asked me to speak up. Doing so shows that I believe in His promises. I no longer fear the future because it is glorious. My eyes are fixed on the heavenly kingdom, a hope that is unseen for now, but will be clearly seen in time to come.

Application

Not only am I called to walk in faith, but I must also speak faith into my situation, my life. I cannot say one thing and do something else, or do one thing and speak differently. That will make me a hypocrite. We sometimes doubt God's love and promises, because we want things to happen our way in our timing. But the Holy Spirit in us reminds us to be patient and remain steadfast in our faith, believing that God's promises will always come to pass. As we believe, we then proclaim God's goodness and mercy to all. He who has ears, let him hear!

Prayer

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the peace You have given me. I seek Your wisdom and Your strength to endure my trials. You are my Treasure and You shall shine forth and be glorified in my body, a jar of clay. You alone allow me to be hard-pressed, but not crushed; persecuted but not destroyed. Restore me, O Lord. Satisfy my soul and renew my spirit. I want to be like a spring, whose waters never fail, because they draw from You, the river of Life. To Your glory, I say, Amen!
