Blessed Are All Those Who Wait For The LORD

June 9, 2026

Scripture

Isaiah 30:15-18; 20-21 15 For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not, 16 And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift horses”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift! 17 One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, At the threat of five you shall flee, Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain And as a banner on a hill. 18 Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him. 20 And though the Lord gives you The bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers. 21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

Reflection

19th March 2026, Thursday The verses in Isaiah chapter 30 were given to me by Gillian’s pastor, Pastor Bernard, when the latter came to our home to visit last week. The verses were both a warning and a reason to rejoice. God had wanted me to return and find rest in Him, but I had gone my own way, in my life and career. Having departed from God, I had been pursued and attacked. Indeed, the publicity around me was akin to being left as a pole on top of a mountain and as a banner on a hill. Yet God wants me to know that He will be gracious to me and have mercy on me; and I will be blessed when I wait for Him! He will send me teachers to guide me, even as He has given me the Holy Spirit to give me wisdom to understand His will.

Application

Do not rely on your own strength or on the strength of others. Trust, instead, wholeheartedly in the Lord who saves. Return to Him! Rest in Him! Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. So do not be downcast but lift your eyes up to heaven - gaze upon His beauty and know that He is a God of justice and of grace. Be still and listen to His voice. He will instruct and I must obey.

Prayer

Thank You, Abba Father, for loving me, even though I had deserted You. I am ashamed, but I am grateful for the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, for they are evidence of Your love for me. Only through my adversities have I been able to see Your providence for me. I have been hard-pressed, but not crushed! I will throw away my idols and You shall restore me. Thank You, O LORD, and I shall sing praises unto Your holy name forever! Amen.
