Yield Only To Christ In Faith and With Thanksgiving
May 19, 2026
“Colossians 2:6-7 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
Reflection
28th May 2024 I was told today that the Plaintiffs in the IPP case were prepared to let me settle the case for a few million dollars, which was a small fraction of the USD146M awarded. My lawyers and friends said I should accept the offer, as it represented a relatively small price to pay for the guarantee of not being made a bankrupt (assuming I could raise the 'few million dollars'). But I did not have peace when I heard this. This would mean dropping my appeal and I would not be vindicated, since I would have to accept the judge’s initial findings. If I were to continue my appeal, however, I would have to incur more legal expenses, with no certainty of winning the appeal. Yet, has God not asked me to walk in faith? Has God not told me that He, who has started a good work in me, will see it to completion in Christ Jesus? I did not feel the Spirit’s prompting to drop my appeal and to negotiate a settlement. Neither did LW, who is one with me.
Application
Our walk with Jesus Christ is similarly fraught with temptations to take the guaranteed or easy way out. Why suffer and toil, when one can give up the good fight and ask God for forgiveness later? Giving up our resistance to sin is very different from surrendering to God and yielding to His pleasure and sovereignty. Both entail a form of letting go, but their motives are different. My eyes must always be fixed on God, not on men (or my own selfish desires).
Thank You, Lord, for sustaining me and giving me a hope. I shall persevere in faith, and even then, I know my faith is a gift from You!
