How Do We Testify of God's Love?

“Matthew 25:37-40 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40 And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'”
Reflection
22nd September, 2023 Today, a lot of people made me cry. They sent me messages expressing their unconditional love and support for me. Many reminded me not to go through my trial alone, but to share my burden with my family and friends. In the gospel of Matthew, chapter 25, Jesus speaks of the Judgment Day of the Gentiles, when He separates the sheep from the goats. I believe this passage reveals that our Lord will judge us by our hearts. The sheep are those who are like Him in spirit, who are ‘after His own heart’. Indeed He considers righteous those who feed the hungry and give drink to those who thirst; who care for the lost and clothe the naked; who tend to the sick and reach out to those in trouble. Truly, I have met the sheep. Li Lian, my Finance Manager in QH (I joined them after leaving NSG), saw me troubled and offered to buy me lunch. When I smiled weakly and declined her offer, she got me fruits (strawberries, blackberries and grapes) to eat anyway. Likewise, in the evening, Adrian invited me to have dinner with him and his son, Matthew. Mervin cooked his specialty, fried hokkien mee, and delivered it to my home. How blessed I am!
Application
Having been comforted in my own sorrow, I have learnt how to be a pillar of support for others in pain. I do not need to say anything, except prayers which the Holy Spirit has put on my lips. People in pain usually need a listening ear rather than advice. Feeding them helps, as they will often have little appetite, yet will need strength for the days ahead.
Thank you, Lord, for sending angels my way. Thank you for revealing Your love for me through my brothers and sisters, my friends and family. Surely, they shall inherit the kingdom that You have prepared for them from the foundation of the earth.
