“Behold, I Will Do a New Thing.”

“Isaiah 43:18-19 18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert." 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Reflection
13th September 2025 In Christ, I am a new creation. I am who He says I am. He says I am His. I am loved. I am forgiven. I am righteous because He is my righteousness. Regardless of what is to come, I know there is nothing to fear, because He has made the road for me to walk on and rivers to quench my thirst. He has given me purpose and direction – to share His gospel and encourage others. This came to pass tonight when my wife and I welcomed ST, his wife, YV and CL, their daughter, to our home for dinner. The purpose? To share the gospel of God’s love for them. It all started when ST messaged me on 26th August: "Hello JH. My apologies for such a sudden message but I thought of you when I was thinking about spirituality. I hope you and family have been well. For many months, I have been personally inspired by your journey and deep devotion for our Lord. My wife and I have had our share of predicaments and have been thinking seriously about returning to Christ. For me, as Catholic, I know little but want to be more acquainted with the Word. For her, she's Buddhist and it will be a road to discovery and enlightenment in a more Christian perspective. Now with our daughter, we want to start her off in the right footing as well in terms of spiritual grounding. Thank you v much for any guidance you can offer. I can never forget the kind gesture of a prayer you prayed over me when we had coffee a couple of years back, hence, it was only fitting for me to reach out to you in the spiritual dept. Thank you🙏🙏🙏" The message led to me inviting them over for dinner and God did the rest. Our meeting was by His divine appointment. Over dinner, LW and I shared how our lives had been touched by Jesus. LW declared that in seeking God, YV will be found by Him. Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Hallelujah! We are witnesses of a new creation! This family has been called by God and they will no longer be the same, even if they don’t know it yet.
Application
In living out my new identity in Christ, I must let go of and forget the things of the past. "Shall you not know it?" God asks. Indeed, am I able to shift my focus from what I have lost in the past 5 years to what God is now providing and to the new path which He has called me to walk? It may seem like I am in a desert, but God will make a road for me and rivers will spring forth to quench my thirst with living water. This is the blessing I am called to share!
Dearest Lord Jesus, thank you for reminding me that my identity is in You. I pray for union with LW as You are in union with us. We are one and we are called to proclaim You as our Lord and Saviour in a united voice. May we be a guiding light to the people whom You bring into our lives and into our homes, that they may see Your glory reflected in our faces. I pray for ST and his wife, YV, to know You; and that the Holy Spirit will prepare a space in their hearts to receive You. I ask all these in Your name, Lord Jesus. Amen.
