Walk in Faith with Courage
May 6, 2026
“Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. James 2:20-24 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.”
Reflection
26th October 2023, Thursday Pastor G made his monthly visit to my home this morning. We spoke about the battles being fought – not against flesh and blood, but in the spiritual realm. Pastor G said that the devil (and his schemes) are defeated by God working out His plan through men. Hence, even though the battle belongs to the Lord, our God fights the battle through men of faith. Examples of these are in the bible – Moses against the Pharoah, David against the Philistines, Gideon against the Amalekites; Joshua and the battle of Jericho; Jesus (who has come in the flesh, is of God – 1 John 4:2) against Satan; and the apostles being martyred for the gospel. Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Walking in faith involves courage. Whilst our faith starts from having a ‘right relationship’ with God, we need to empty ourselves and be filled with His divine love, wisdom and courage to do Spirit-led things which our human minds say are impossible or crazy, even. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Once we are able to walk in His will with courage, we will manifest Christ in us through the works that He will accomplish through us – therefore, faith without works is dead, as our life in Christ will always be accompanied by good works of the Spirit. Through Christ, all things are possible. I guess I am still at the stage of setting my heart on things above – the kingdom of God – and plucking up the courage to trust in His providence.
Application
Am I willing to believe in the impossible? Are my prayers limited to what I think are humanly deliverable? Our spiritual battles require us to put on the armour of God and be led by His Spirit, who gives us the divine wisdom and strength to overcome and emerge victorious.
Thank you, Lord, for Your love for me and my family, and for the privilege of serving You in battle. Give me the courage to walk in faith and glorify You in doing so. In Jesus' name, Amen.
