Blessed be the Lord Who Has Heard My Supplications
May 18, 2026
“Psalm 28:6-9 Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. 8 The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. 9 Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.”
Reflection
9th April 2024 First prayer meeting with CH and TC this evening. CH had organised the meeting, calling it the ‘Psalm 23 Cell Group’, a reference to their experience in the cells of the Prison Complex. They both shared that they had peace during the more than 24 hours they had spent there and attested to the presence of the Holy Spirit. We reminded each other to fix our eyes on Jesus and things above. However, the evening got me thinking about preparing to spend time in prison, since the DPP, in my case, was pressing for a custodial sentence. How was I to serve the Lord if imprisoned? I had never contemplated this, insofar that I was praying for deliverance, but as Jesus had said, not my will but God’s be done.
Application
God gave us communities to grow in and we must surround ourselves with saints - people who have accepted Jesus Chris as Lord and Saviour. We draw our strength and increase in faith by praying and worshiping together. Remember, even Jesus had Peter, James and John with Him in Gethsemane!
Dear Lord, I am fearful of jail, but I know You are with me even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. It is written that You shall prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies and that even goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. I claim this promise of Yours and I submit to Your will. Thank You for the privilege of ministering to others who are going through similar experiences. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and I am Your branch. Help me bear up under my trials. Help me bear fruit. Do not let the unbelievers mock me and, in so doing, mock Your love for me and Your power to deliver. Lord Jesus, I cry out to You for strength. You, alone, are my shield and refuge. You are my hiding place. I claim victory in Your Name. Amen.
